If you think you may have a sexually transmitted infection, you should get tested as soon as possible.
If you have no symptoms you may be eligible to attend the express clinic or you can choose to have a test sent to you.
STI testing at home is now available to anyone living in Forth Valley. You can test for some sexually transmitted infections (STIs) at home, without having to go to a sexual health clinic.
Testing at home is only available if you have no symptoms.
Make sure you read the Information about testing before you order your test.
Symptoms of STIs can include:
- pain when having a pee/urinating
- itch, bumps or blisters around your genitals.
- an unusual discharge from the vagina, penis, or anus
- sometimes you will have no symptoms.
If you have symptoms, it is important to be tested as soon as possible.
Please call 01324 673554, between 8.30 – 12.30 (Monday – Friday) or check Appointments for local sexual health clinic times.
Getting tested can require one or some of the following:
- urine test
- blood test
- throat swab (you may be able to take this yourself)
- rectal swab you may be able to take this yourself)
- vaginal swab (you may be able to take this yourself)
- sometimes a genital examination
Most sexually transmitted infections can be easily treated. It is best if treatment is started as soon as possible. If left untreated many STIs can be painful or uncomfortable and may cause ongoing health issues.
Tests to check for STIs can be carried out at a sexual health clinic and also by your GP.
